General Assistance Notice
The municipality of Casco administers a General Assistance Program for people in need. Pursuant to Title 22 MRSA-4304, the Municipal Officers have adopted an Ordinance establishing the General Assistance program. Copies of the Municipal Ordinance and General Assistance statutes are available, upon request, for public inspection at the town clerk’s office.
Persons who wish to apply for General Assistance may do so in person on Wednesdays from 9am-12pm. Applicants are encouraged to call 207-632-2240 and schedule an appointment ahead of time.
In the event of a LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY, occurring after normal business hours applicants may contact Cumberland County Emergency Dispatch 207-893-2810 and ask them to contact the General Assistance Administrator.
The municipality’s General Assistance administrator must issue a written decision within 24 hours of receiving an application.
