Duplicate Registration Request Online Service
This online service allows someone who holds a valid Maine vehicle registration to order a duplicate registration online. This service does not include duplicate stickers for your license plates, only the duplicate registration. (This service is not available for semi-permanent trailer registrations.)
Duplicate registrations will be mailed to the address on file with the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Due to the Drivers Privacy Protection Act, if you wish to have your registration mailed to an alternate address, you must provide the address that the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles currently has on file.
You should receive your duplicate registration certificate within 7 business days. Duplicate registrations also may be processed at a Bureau of Motor Vehicle branch office and many municipalities.
This service is provided by a third party working in partnership with the State
of Maine. The total amount you pay includes funds to develop, maintain and
enhance the State's official web portal, Maine.gov, and Maine.gov online
services like this one.
Duplicate Registration Fees:
- The fee for a duplicate registration is $5.00. For those registrations exempt from registration fees, there is no duplicate fee. All duplicate requests (other than governmental) processed on this site are charged an additional agent fee of $1.00.
Who can use this service?
- Anyone who holds a current, active Maine vehicle registration.
- Registrations that are more than 7 days from expiration.
- Registrants who do not have an SR-22 insurance filing requirement.
What you will need:
- The plate number on the registration
- A printer
- Name of business, or
- The last name and date of birth of the first registrant on the registration
