Proposed Zoning – 2006

1.  State law requires local zoning to be consistent with a duly adopted local Comprehensive Plan. Casco updated its latest Comprehensive Plan in January 2004.

(There are some excepts, for example, mandatory Shoreland Zoning does not require a Comprehensive Plan.)

§         State Law

§         Comprehensive Plan

2.  Comprehensive Plans are based on a combination of state laws and rules, as well as local needs and desires. The latter were identified primarily through a series of town wide surveys, the most recent one completed in 2001.
