Yoga
Yoga is offered every Thursday at the community center from 8:30-9:30 and Saturday's from 10-11. Instructor is Debbie Goldstein. Debbie has over 10 years of certified teaching experience. Many poses can be modified to unique abilities or needs. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring a mat if you have one. $10.00 drop in fee or $7.00 if you sign up for the entire session

Golf lessons at Point Sebago Resort

We are excited to offer golf lessons for all ages and abilities, with just the right level of instruction for you. the experienced pga staff is available to give you the personal attention you need. as your skill level increases so will your fun and enjoyment.

Youth Clinic on Saturday’s starting July 7nd through July 28th at 10:45 for ages 8-14.
Cost: $30.00 for Casco residents $40.00 for non-residents

Adult Clinic on Wednesday’s starting June 13th through July 4th from 6:00-7:00pm
This program is for adults and seniors. Cost: $50.00 for Casco residents $60.00 for non-residents.

The program is designed to teach and develop the necessary skills of the sport. Our Tennis Instructor, Kim Peterson is currently a varsity coach at Lake Region and has been involved with tennis for many years. She is very excited and looking forward to teaching children and adults alike. (Children must be at least 9 years old)

The American Red Cross program is designed to teach and develop the necessary skills of the sport. Our Swim Instructor Stacy Smith Plummer has been involved with swimming for many years and looks forward to teaching children and adults of all ages and levels.

Classes will be held Monday-Friday for two weeks at Pleasant Beach.

HUNTER SAFETY COURSE

Wednesday, June,1st from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 11th from 8:00-4:30 p.m.
Casco Community Center

This course is taught by State of Maine Certified hunter safety instructors, and will be a home study course. On Wednesday, June 1st, instructors will provide participants with all necessary material including workbooks and assignments for the home study portion. Instructors will also provide guidance and demonstration of proper firearms, handling, and a discussion of laws and responsibilities.

On June11th, instruction will be given on first aid, survival, map and compass; responsibilities, ethics and a review of the home study subjects.
Participants should bring a lunch and dress for outdoor field exercises. Participants must be at least 10 years of age; anyone under 18 years of age will need parent consent on the State of Maine course registration card and anyone 12 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent of guardian.

Pre-registration is required and can be done at the Town of Casco Recreation Department at 627-4187. A donation of $5.00 should be made to the Casco Recreation Department. Minimum enrollment to hold a class is 10 with a maximum of 40.

Casco Rec will be offering softball pitchers and catchers the opportunity to attend a clinic with Lynn Coutts of Frozen Ropes. The clinic will be held at Lake Region Middle School on Saturday, April 2nd for catchers; 9:00-10:00, U10 pitchers 10:00-11:00, U12 pitchers 11:00-12:00. This is a free clinic and one you don¡¦t want to miss!
If the program is cancelled due to weather the postponed date will be April 5th from 6-9 at Lake Region Middle School.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BABYSITTING COURSE (INCLUDES FIRST AID AND CPR)
This class covers basic babysitting skill; how to care for children, feeding & diapering, bottle and dish feeding, safety, first aid, CPR, and choking emergencies. A must take course for future babysitters.

Casco Recreation is offering a Vacation Basketball Camp during April vacation!
Camp will be a skills based program, focusing on the fundamentals of ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, game rules, and sportsmanship!
*Each child's daily basketball activities will be based on their individual skill level.
*There will be non-basketball activities provided.
* All hoops will be at 10 feet

* Awards and demonstrations will be given on the last day of camp and parents are encouraged to come early to watch

MAD SCIENCE ¡V SYSTEM 3
We¡¦re back for another exciting six-week program filled with awesome hands-on science experiments. Some of the spectacular science program topics we will explore include Che-mystery, Super Structures, ¡§Current¡¨ Events, Wacky Waves and lots more. Each young Mad Scientist will be making some great take home projects too, including circuit mazes, growing crystals, electroscopes and more.
This program has been developed to spark the imagination and curiosity of children by providing educational and entertaining activities that instill a clear understanding of what science is really about and how it affects the world around them. All materials are included.

This class will be alternate intervals of cardio and strength training. It is designed to keep you moving while you work all muscle groups and focus on core strength.
Step benches, hand-held weights and elastic tubing handles will be used. Modifications of the exercises will be shown for all fitness levels. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one.

Tai-Chi

This class is great for senior citizens and anyone looking to start fitness classes. It is designed to be fun and have you moving to the music with a variety of exercises that increase muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and balance. Many of the exercises are geared toward improving activities for daily living. Hand-held weights and elastic tubing with handles will be used. A chair is incorporated for seated and/or standing support.

Wii Fit Exercise
Exercise at your own pace, when you want! The community center is equipped with televisions and a variety of wii fit exercise programs. Come alone; bring a friend or group and workout at your own pace.

Gardening Workshops
Culinary Herb Class:
Let's talk about the best herbs for cooking! We will cover how to propagate, grow and maintain these plants; how to integrate them into recipes for everyday cooking; and how to preserve and store them for future use. This will be a hands-on introduction and discussion on the best varieties for flavor and how to get the most out of your herbs in the kitchen!

Container Gardening Workshop:
Don't have lots of space for a garden? Well, you can still have a wonderful container garden! In this workshop, we will discuss various techniques and types of containers, soils and plants to create a beautiful display without all the square footage. We will cover companion plantings, color schemes, theme ideas and even edible collections for both indoor and outdoor arrangements!

Creating a Garden Design Workshop:
We all love those gorgeous garden pictures in magazines; well you can create a delightful garden design yourself! This will be a hands-on workshop that will introduce you to some basic garden-tested design principals and fundamentals where we will discuss practical garden advice and tips that will help you mix your favorite annuals and perennials into a cohesive garden design that works for you! Garden and border design plans will be provided for a variety of different gardening themes and purposes and growing tips for your favorite plants will be available. So mark a spot outside and bring your garden wish list so you can create your own person custom garden design!

ATV Safety Course
All Terrain Vehicle Safety Course (ATV): Certified State of Maine volunteer instructors (Inland Fisheries & Wildlife) will provide instruction on ATV*s and related equipment; safe operation and riding skills; maintenance, proper clothing; emergencies (survival and self-first aid); map & compass; laws; impact on the environment; responsibilities; landowner relations and ethics. Limited hands-on riding with beginner obstacle course (90 cc atv provided for course). Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied throughout the course by a parent or legal guardian. Some of the class time may be in an outdoor situation when instructing about the ATV and for map & compass.

Boating Safety Class
Boat owners, boat operators and everyone planning to spend time on the water in Maine are invited to sign up for and participate in the upcoming boating education course offered through the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife and sponsored by Casco Parks and Recreation.
The course will be taught by State certified instructors and provide an important and potentially life saving review of boating laws, regulations and instruction on safe and attentive boating. The course will cover the following topics; boating and equipment, safe operation, navigation, rules of the road, laws and legal requirements, emergencies and cold water survival and invasive and aquatic plant issues. Those successfully completing the course will be awarded a certificate of completion and material for future use. The course will be held at The Community Center in Casco, on Saturday, April 23rd from 8-4:30 (please bring lunch) The fee is $5.00 per student. Maximum registration is 30 participants. To register for the class, or for more information contact Beth Latsey at Casco Parks and Recreation 627-4187. Anyone under the age of 18 must have parental consent on the State of Maine registration card. Those under 12 years of age must have an adult attend the classes with them
